You didn't buy that ring to keep it locked in a drawer. You didn't inherit your father's watch to leave it in a safe. And you didn't treat yourself to that necklace just to worry every time you wear it out.
You bought these pieces to wear them, enjoy them, and show them off.
That's where I come in.
I'm Lenny Burton, your personal risk manager. I've already gone through the jewelry insurance market and picked the program I trust. I place your coverage, walk you through how it works, and stay your advisor.
Your Homeowners Policy Probably Doesn't Cover What You Think It Does
Most homeowners policies cap jewelry at $1,000 to $2,500 per item. They usually don't cover mysterious disappearance (the piece is gone and you don't know how). And every claim goes on your homeowners loss-history record, where it can sit for up to seven years.
So you lose the piece, pay a deductible, get back a fraction of the value, and the claim can affect your homeowners premiums or renewal down the road.
| Homeowners Floater | BriteCo (What I Place) | |
|---|---|---|
| Deductibles | Common, often $500+ | $0 on standard policies* |
| Claims reported to CLUE / A-PLUS | Typically yes | No** |
| Mysterious disappearance | Often excluded or restricted | Covered, subject to policy terms |
| Coverage territory | Restrictions may apply | Worldwide |
| Appraisal updates | You handle them manually | Automated annually |
| Coverage cap | Often $1,000 to $2,500 sub-limits | Up to 125% of appraised value |

Tell Me What You've Got (about 60 seconds)
What kind of piece is it (ring, watch, necklace, bracelet, earrings) and what's it appraised at? You can add as many pieces as you want. All you need is a recent appraisal, a detailed sales receipt, or a lab certificate.
Answer a Few Quick Questions
Five or six simple questions. No lengthy forms, no physical paperwork. About 90% of people are approved on the spot. The other 10% go to a reviewer who looks for reasons to approve you, not reasons to turn you down.
Pick Your Payment and You're Covered
Monthly or annual. Your jewelry is now on its own dedicated policy, completely separate from your homeowners insurance.
Here's What the Policy Covers
This is an informal summary. Your policy contract has the full details.
- $0 Deductibles on Standard Policies.* Something happens to a piece? The policy covers repair or full replacement. Nothing out of your pocket.
- Loss, Theft, Damage, and Mysterious Disappearance. You look down and the ring is gone. No break-in, no robbery, just gone. That's covered, subject to policy terms.
- Worldwide, 365 Days a Year. Doesn't matter where you are.
- Up to 125% of Appraised Value. Gem and metal prices move. The policy accounts for that.
- Automatic Value Updates Every Year. Your coverage adjusts to current market prices (subject to policy terms). No running out to get a new appraisal.
- Preventative Maintenance. Prong retipping, broken or worn prongs, broken earring posts, clasp replacement, pearl restringing, stone tightening (as provided under the policy).
- Claims Stay Off Your Homeowners Record. A jewelry claim through this policy doesn't get reported to CLUE or A-PLUS.**
- Add a Partner or Fiancé for Free.
- Premiums Run About 0.5% to 1.5% of Appraised Value Per Year. For a lot of people that's a few dollars a month. Minimum premium is $50. Actual rate depends on your situation.*
- Discounts. Pay annually, keep a home safe, or have a central burglar alarm and your rate drops.
- No Cancellation Penalty. If you need to cancel, you cancel. No short rate penalty.
